BUBBLE? NO TROUBLE! Got a non-diving spouse? Send them on a bubble-sub trip while you go diving with the sharks on the walls of New Providence, Bahamas. Riding a bubble-sub is easy - no swimming skills are needed and, who knows, once they've seen the sort of thing you can get up to they might decide to take up scuba-diving after all. Bubble-subs are now on the menu at Stuart Cove - you can pre-book your diving there direct or book it as part of a holiday package.

FRENCH CONNECTION Scubatechbeuchat@aol.com is the address - the company which owns it says it can offer the clearance and obsolete stock of a previous Beuchat distributor at bargain prices. Beuchat might be a well-known brand of diving equipment in Europe but in Britain it has tended to hide its light under a bushel. However, things are about to change, or so says Polar Bears, which has taken over UK marketing and distribution for these French products. All Beuchat products are made in-house, including a computer designed with Comex. Coldwater regulators start at £149.

GO WEST Which way is west? What's the time? What's the time in America? What's the atmospheric pressure? If you need to know these answers on a regular basis, perhaps you need this Suunto watch. Water-resistant enough for swimming, though not a diver's watch, it looks good, has an illuminated display and has enough modes to dominate the conversation in the pub for a whole evening.
