WHATS BUBBLING  All the holiday news...

WHERE THERE'S MUCK...
Two Fish Divers is opening a new resort on Lembeh Island in Indonesia. Lembeh Strait is the muck-diving capital of the world, and home to many weird and often minute marine creatures within minutes of the resort. The PADI 5-star/Gold Palm operator promises no crowds - eight divers maximum and a guide for every two or three. It offers basic but, it says, comfortable beachside accommodation at reasonable prices at Lembeh to complement its existing resort on nearby Bunaken Island. A seven-night/12-dive package starts at US $414.

CAGE-DIVING IN GUADALUPE
Guadalupe Island off the Pacific coast of Mexico is said to offer calm, warm water and reliable sightings of great white sharks, but it usually takes a 24-hour voyage from San Diego in California to get there. But now divers booking aboard the 116ft Nautilus Explorer can save plenty of valuable diving time by being flown out by aircraft in only 90 minutes. The liveaboard, which has five shark cages, is hosting Mexican scientists who are using acoustic telemetry, tagging and DNA sampling to study great whites in the area. Paying guests are welcome to join the scientists on the boat and in the cages, for a four- or five-day trip including flights that costs from $2150. A donation of $150 from every fee goes to the Guadalupe White Shark Conservation Fund.

TWENTY CAMEL
The famous Camel Dive Club in Sharm El Sheikh is celebrating 20 years in business. One of the first dive centres in Sharm, back when Na'ama Bay was little more than a beach and only shore-diving was on offer, it has grown into a PADI 5-star Instructor Development Centre and TDI technical diving facility. It has its own four-star hotel, two restaurants, café and two bars. "We have always focused on providing what divers want - top-quality facilities, friendly dive guides and fantastic diving," says founder Hesham Gabr. A package including seven nights' accommodation with three days' diving starts from 300 euros.

EAST COAST OFFER
North Carolina, on the USA's Atlantic seaboard, is best known for its many WW1 and WW2 wrecks, including the U-boat U-352, and artificial reefs. One of its biggest dive centres, Discovery Diving Company in Beaufort, promises warm waters and great viz and is offering a special mid-week deal for groups of six or more - for $395 per diver, you get four days of diving and five nights' accommodation. Just arrange a flight and transfers!

AWAY FROM IT ALL
Do you hanker for a Mediterranean diving holiday away from the crowds? The Ottoman Palace Hotel at Adrasan, near Antalya,
Turkey claims to offer just that. It is set in national parkland and has its own dive centre with, it says, many dive sites within or on the edge of the bay. Prices start from £165 per person per week on a half-board basis, depending on the season, with a 10-dive package costing £134.

GREEN GALAPAGOS
Sharing insights into the Galapagos Islands eco-system is the mission of Aqua-Firma Worldwide, which is offering a combined diving liveaboard trip with a four-day marine biology and conservation course at the GAIAS Institute on San Cristobal Island from 3-16 September. The trip costs £2695 a head, including course, dives, accommodation, return flights from Quito in Ecuador to Galapagos and land transfers. The price excludes international flights (around £700 return), airport taxes and the US $100 Galapagos park entry fee.
