Seac-sub Pro 2000 and Pro Lady BCs
The latest version of the acclaimed Pro 2000 BC offers what Beaver Sports says are significant improvements over the previous model. These include enhanced 1000 denier nylon and Cordura material, pistol-style direct-feed inflator, and an optional integrated-weight system using novel quick-release buckles. The BC is supplied with in-water buoyancy-trimming and large trim-weight pockets. It costs £389 with £24 for the optional weight-pockets. The Pro Lady (£325) is cut so that the shoulder straps position themselves well away from the chest. Both BCs have an adjustable harness system for what is claimed to be
a perfect fit.

Cetacea retractor
Grab it, use it, let it go - that's the idea behind the automatically retracting line. Normally used with gauges, this one comes with a standard camera tripod screw so that you can conveniently carry a little underwater digital camera without fear of losing it. It costs £24 from CPS Partnership.

Baltic 100N life-jacket
Taking your kids with you on the boat? What happens if they fall in? The difference between survival and non-survival can depend on the quality of a life-jacket. Baltic makes jackets that it describes as advanced in design yet comfortable and practical to use. Made up with a foundation of soft laminated foam that moulds to the body, the cover materials are available in bright colours for easier detection in the water. The UV reflective fabric is light but durable and tested in extreme conditions. Component parts such as buckles and zips are made from heavy-duty Delrin and top and bottom ties are fitted for added security.
A crotch-strap, whistle and retro reflective tape are fitted as standard. The Baltic 100N is available in a range of sizes, for children of 15kg, 15-30kg and 30-50kg and adults. Price is £30. Also available - life-jackets for pets!

Zeagle Ranger LTD wing
The American Zeagle company invented the concept of the wing-style BC but almost disappeared from the UK diving scene since then. Now it has a new European distributor, OceanDive Europe, which plans to change that state of affairs. With a standard 20kg of maximum lift, the Ranger LTD can be used with a single or with twin tanks. Made of durable 1050 ballistic-quality nylon, it has a quick-release integrated-weight system that can take up to 14kg. With two zipped utility pockets permanently designed in, there is also the option to fit numerous specialised zips on pockets, as well as extra D-rings. The Zeagle Ranger LTD costs £529, including removable weight-pouches. The smaller sizes are cut to suit women.

Aladin One computer
Aimed at dive schools and centres that might offer constant-percentage nitrox supplies by membrane system, this entry-level Aladin computer can be set for different nitrox mixes (21% to 50%) using SmartTRAK software and a PC. It has the easily read and understood display of the Aladin Prime and requires an automatic safety-stop of three minutes at 5m if a dive deeper than 10m is undertaken. The logbook mode displays details
of the last dive. Further logbook data must be downloaded via PC. Price is £189.

Bare suits
You may recall Suunto starting to import these Bare suits from its Canadian subsidiary. They received good reviews (see www.divernet.com) but Suunto UK decided against stocking them for reasons of storage space, which was a pity. Now, however, you can buy the Canadian Bare brand in the UK, because it has a new distributor, Sea & Sea. With 27 off-the-peg sizes and additional customising, Bare reckons to be able to equip everyone involved in watersports quickly and provide an excellent fit. The range covers drysuits in neoprene, membrane and laminate fabrics, and wetsuits with neoprene combinations with "Progressive Stretch" qualities.

This is a stainless-steel Quick Mounting Release system that allows you to exchange cylinders on your BC in seconds, says Poseidon Diving Systems.
It works with either a single tank or a steel-banded twin-set. Price is £96 complete with all the nuts and bolts needed. The system integrates seamlessly with the latest BeSea range of jackets and harnesses, too.
