Diving Niknaks
From the company of the same name come various, er, nick-nacks. Hose-hats are designed to press on to the knurled sleeve on the quick disconnect of a power inflator hose of both a drysuit and a BC. This provides a larger, easier-to-grip flange, so that emergency disconnection of the LP hose, even with thick gloves, becomes possible. They cost £0.50 per pair. A replacement "boot" or low-profile mount for the ever popular Suunto Vyper and Vytec dive computers securely retains the computer with an easy snap-in fit. Such bungee-mounted gauges are claimed to be far easier to put on than buckled straps, and are depth-compensating. Two loops provide redundancy if one breaks. Priced at £12.50, they are also available for the Apeks Quantum and Uwatec bottom-timer.

Scubapro Scotia Semi-Dry
This new 6.5mm semi-dry suit is constructed from a layer of 6.5mm DuPont neoprene with a unique cross-shoulder Ti Tek zip system that promises a virtually dry dive. It has a titanium lining for optimum heat retention and comes complete with matching hood. The Scotia is available in sizes from women's S to men's XXL. It costs £255.

Micro Frogman torches
These lights may look very similar, but the single high-intensity LED of the Micro Frogman Powerchip is brighter than the triple-chip Micro Frogman Triplex. Both are depth-rated to 60m, both will give a burntime of around 50 hours from four AAA batteries and both are switched by twisting the lens assembly in the reverse direction to normal. The Micro Frogman Triplex costs around £20 while the Micro Frogman Powerchip costs around £30. Lanyards and batteries are included.

Diver's Logbook
With room for details of 200 dives, this attractive ring-bound logbook includes an equipment maintenance record, thorough equipment checklists, illustrations of international dive-flags and hand signals, and personal information pages. It costs £14.95 from Boston Mills Press.

Transparent Logbook
A novelty fish-shaped logbook with transparent covers, this German product comes complete with pen and dive-card holder. The Starter Set holds logs for 120 dives, a buddy address book, 10 pages for notes, world maps and holiday information, an equipment checklist to prepare the dive holiday, and calendar up to 2007. It costs around £26.

Seac Sub Italica
This all-new mask from the Italian manufacturer has the distinctive tear-drop shape to its twin lenses that is claimed to give better downward vision than conventional masks. The precise construction of its tough, translucent frame is said to allow exceptional visibility, while the new buckle features practical buttons designed to allow quick and gradual adjustment - particularly useful when using gloves in the cold UK waters. The price is £45.

Scubapro T-Black BC
Continuing a thrust for sales through advanced technology, the T-Black is the latest in a line of new Scubapro BCs to arrive in the UK. With what the company calls its Airflex system, this BC has a high-capacity bladder for maximum lift, with high-performance valves. It also has what Scubapro terms an "adjustable bondage system", including bungee enclosures.
The T-Black features a patented quick-release weight system as well as an additional external compartment on the right pocket for carrying safety buoys or other such valuable devices needed easily to hand. Trim-weight adjustment is attained through expandable back-flotation pockets. The heavy-duty Cordura 1000 exterior ensures robustness and the lightweight Nylon 420 interior is said to be soft and comfortable. Available in five sizes, S
to XXL, it costs £389. We haven't even seen one yet, but when we do we'll let you know!

Metalsub Handlamp
This new Metalsub Handlamp continues in the Dutch manufacturer's tradition of being made up to a standard rather than down to a price.
It features a tough precision construction, external charging connections, x3 variable light output, and is rated to 240m deep. Charging time is said to be five hours and the burntime, with its 20W halogen bulb, 70 minutes. You can extend that by fitting a six-LED head module that burns 15W. The Handlamp costs £239 from Mike's, with the multiple LED head £110 extra.

Scubapro Escape Snorkel
Available in colours including black, blue, lime and clear, the Escape snorkel has a semi-dry top, a large bore, a flexible corrugated section for comfort and a quick-release clip - all for £16.
