Beuchat Voyager
The French often like to do things their own way, and this can result in products that can seem slightly quirky to the Anglo-Saxon mind. Not this new full-feature nitrox decompression diving computer. For a start, it uses a Haldane algorithm modified by Rogers and Powell with a two-stage variable ascent-rate. It is adjustable for nitrox between 21% and 50% O2, with a ppO2 alarm adjustable from 1.2 to 1.6 bar. In fact, it includes every feature you would expect of a single-mix nitrox computer. It is operated by two push-buttons that allow the diver to switch between displays while under water, and are also used for setting it up. The price has yet to be fixed.

  • Scubapro MK17
This latest diaphragm-type regulator did very well in this year's DIVER Coldwater Regulator Comparison (May), due to its unrivalled flow-rates and specific coldwater features. Now it's available in DIN or A-clamp fitting with a choice from a full range of Scubapro second stages. With the X650 it costs £369; with the S550 (shown) £265; with the R390, £209; and with the entry-level R290, it costs £169.

  • Equaleze Nasal Spray
Having trouble with your nasal passages? It can lead to blocked ears and cancelled dives. Equaleze is a non-medicated remedy that is claimed to keep the passages clear and helps prevent nasal dryness. It's said to be of equal use to divers and air-travellers. You may be both. Price is £4.99

  • WALKIE TALKIES
Marine VHF radios should be operated only by those who have the appropriate certification and hold an in-date licence. Mobile phones are not always within range of a transmitter. For ordinary conversations between two small boats such as a club might use, between boat and shore-party, or between car drivers travelling in convoy, these state-of-the-art Walkie Talkies can be a sensible choice of tool. With a range of about two miles, they have an amazing choice of 304 channels to avoid interference, they are small and light and best of all, they are inexpensive. Two units with rechargeable batteries and charger cost only £40.

  • WATERPROOF CRUX GLOVES
These massively made 5mm five-fingered gloves look just the job for British diving. Ribbed backs for flexibility, grippy palms and long cuffs closed with zips should make them comfortable and warm. They're also available as a mitt. £23.50

  • APEKS TUNGSTEN ATX200
The limited edition of the ATX200, the Black Pearl, was so popular that Apeks has now made available a similar version in conventional production quantities. This new top-of-the-range regulator's first stage is finished in a hard and durable PVD coating with high-tech grades of titanium, zirconium and chromium. The Apeks Tungsten costs £437.

  • Scubapro Ladies' Extender
This recently released pastel blue watch-sized diving computer will find favour with those who prefer things in gentler shades. It's also an opportunity for a bit of romantic gift-making from men. Instead of a diamond ring, why not make it something really useful? The Lady's Extender comes in a sexy little presentation case and may encourage a little bit of buddy-love. £299

  • LED Lenser Frogman
Using one of the new generation of super-bright LEDs, this lamp makes a useful back-up torch that fits into almost any pocket. With a long 50-hour burntime from its four AA batteries, it will always be effective when you need it. The Lenser has a unique one-piece reflector and lens made from a solid lump of clear plastic, and it is turned on by rotating the front shroud anti-clockwise. Price is £40.

  • Rigsac
So you rig your tank with BC and regulator and then see it loaded onto the boat by someone else? What happens next? Do the regulator second stages and console loaded with gauges get trampled on by other divers, or worse, during bumpy rides to the dive-site? The Rigsac is a simple idea. It's a large self-draining pouch that rigs inside the backpack of your BC. There you can stow all those loose ends safely out of harm's way until you need them.
