WHATS BUBBLING  All the holiday news...

MUCK-DIVE IN INDONESIA Divers are likely to be clamouring to reach places such as North Sulawesi, especially now that the Foreign Office advisory against Indonesia has been lifted. Eco Divers, North Sulawesi's only PADI 5-Star Gold Palm IDC resort, is offering two-centre diving holidays encompassing some of the world's best sites. Based at the Tasik Ria resort, divers are well-placed to visit Bunaken Marine Park, with its stunning biodiversity and dramatic drop-offs. You can combine this with a stay at the newly refurbished Kungkungan Bay Resort, and Lembeh Strait awaits with some of the world's most famous muck-diving and out-of-this-world critters.

  • PHOTO-FEST IN ANTIBES The 31st Festival of Underwater Pictures will be held at the Palais des Congrès in Antibes in France, from 27 to 31 October and this year will have a Polynesian flavour. A hundred films, 500 photographs and 1100 slides have already been entered for the competition and 120 exhibition stands will feature 50 nations, 30 magazines and tourism boards and travel agencies. A special Archipelago competition is in its second year and its aim is for participants to devise an architectural project where futuristic cohabitation between mankind and the sea would be possible.

  • PIER PRESSURE IN BONAIRE Bonaire Tourism tells us that the new International Ship and Port Security Code does not disbar people from diving under Kralendijk's town pier, but that there will be new security precautions. Local dive guides will have to be registered to lead dives under the pier and participating divers must be identified and approved to dive in advance. Find out more about the ISPS Code at www.imo.org
