UPMARKET DOWN BELOW GoPelican is a travel company that started off in 1997 by organising Caribbean weddings and honeymoons but can also run diving trips for the less romantically inclined. It now offers upmarket Caribbean diving holidays that include, for example, visits to the wrecks of the Bianca C in Grenada or the Stavronikita in Barbados, or the less well-known coral reefs of Curaçao.

NEUTRAL BUOYANCY Having trouble with buoyancy control? Perhaps you need some help, and the Aquapilot GF can provide it. The importer says it's an integrated dive computer and buoyancy-controller that interfaces with the diver's BC to control the amount of air in and out. It can be pre-programmed to restrict the diver to a predetermined depth and return to the surface at no more than 15m per minute. Price is £980, subject to BC compatibility.

SHOW ME THE WAY The Swiss-made XIOS EyeSea TX Wreck Diver works together with its ultrasonic homing beacon deployed at the beginning of a dive to give you constant directions back to your starting point. Importer Sea & Sea claims that it is as revolutionary as the first diving computer was, and that there is no need to scan round for a signal - an electronic display with a rotating arrow always points the way home regardless. The device is said to be good to 100m and up to 1km range. A set with one receiver and one transmitter costs £399.
