Body Glove Pro-Lite First impressions: A big, solid suit, obviously designed for those giants across the Atlantic. Although made to measure for our test diver, he would have needed to go on a burger-diet to fill it out properly. Price £575 (includes bag). Material and construction: Compressed neoprene. The stitching is glued on the outside where the seams form junctions. All seams are well glued on the inside, although we found lots of air bubbles in the glue. Boots Heavy-duty boots with ribbed soles and ribbed uppers. "Quite nice really." It was a pity the boots were sopping wet when the suit was supplied to us for the test. Zip The standard (cross-shoulder) zip looks inadequate on such a heavy-duty suit. It is double-stitched. Seals Short, parallel, latex wrist seals, bellows-style latex neck seal. Wrist seal contact length 25mm. Knee pads Rubber knee pads. Valves Low-profile Apeks inflator valve and ordinary Apeks auto-dump with rubber gaskets on the outside only. Other features Fixed braces. Twin thigh-pockets with concertina design in canvas-type material and with D-ring. Shoulder pads. Ease of dressing "It was easy to get into. It was a pity that it was a little big for me it seemed too long in the body, which spoilt the look of it." In the water This suit proved comfortable and very unrestrictive. "The only problem I found was with positive buoyancy in the boots, despite the fact that I was wearing heavy old-fashioned black rubber fins." There was a slight leak at the wrists. Approximate weight of test suit 6kg. Made-to-measure service Yes. Tested by George Buxton. |
