First impressions
A very similar suit to the Aquion, but it appears to have been made with less care. A lightweight suit (apart from its zip).
Price £383 (includes bag); £464 (with valves and hose).
Material and construction Tri-laminate material, double-stitched at the seams (as Aquion) and taped. No reinforcement at the crotch.
Boots Welly boots! Lightweight and lined we wondered how long they would last. Glued and taped on the outside.
Zip A heavy-duty zip, not taped but well glued.
Seals The bellows-type latex neck seal was glued and taped with the narrowest tape we have seen on a neck seal. The parallel wrist seals were short but glued and taped inside and out. There was an excess of glue in many places.
Wrist seal contact length 35mm.
Knee pads Kevlar knee pads are not pretty but effective.
Valves The suit was supplied without any valves.
Other features None.
Ease of dressing Average.
In the water Gerry heroically made a dive to 16m without any external source of suit inflation. "Thank goodness I'd had a curry the night before! The suit proved functional and generally adequate. I stayed dry apart from the wet wrist where I had to dump air to descend. It was hard to make a fair judgement without any valves."
Approximate weight of test suit 2.5kg.
Made-to-measure service Stock sizes only.
Tested by Gerry Gooch.
