First impressions
A medium-to-lightweight suit. "The sort of suit most people buy." It has an adequate rather than expensive-looking finish. An elasticated waist at the back gives a slightly fitted look.
Price £540 (includes hood, hose and bag).
Material and construction A lightweight, tri-laminate material that did not flex very much! The stitching is good and it is taped on the inside.
Boots Good, standard, middle-range, ribbed boots, although it proved a little difficult to remove fins from them. "The depth of the sole tread looked a bit shallow for good longevity."
Zip A standard cross-shoulder zip, taped only on the inside.
Seals There are latex seals at the neck and wrists; a bellows-style neck seal. "I had some doubts about the long-term strength of the wrist seals."
Wrist seal contact length 25mm.
Knee pads The suit material is double-layered.
Valves The high-profile Apeks inflation valve and auto-dump valve are mounted on rubber gaskets.
Other features The loops for braces are fixed with extra reinforcing where they are attached to the suit.
Ease of dressing "Relatively easy to get on and off, although the neck seal proved more difficult to get off than I expected."
In the water "Under water it was excellent. Very comfortable. There were no leaks. I hardly knew I was wearing a suit. I would buy this suit the way it is!"
Approximate weight of test suit 3.5kg.
Made-to-measure service Stock sizes only.
Tested by Gerry Gooch.
