DIVER DIES AT ST ABBS
A sport diver from Harrogate BSAC was reported missing at 2pm on Sunday, 25 November after a dive on the wreck of the Glanmire at 32m.
The wreck is known as a high-energy site that must be dived on slack water to avoid the fast tides.
The lost diver had apparently became separated from his buddy at 15m, after the buddy had deployed a delayed SMB. When the lost diver failed to surface, the skipper of their chartered hard boat Our Phyllis alerted the rescue services.
Two lifeboats and two Royal Navy Vessels carried out a sea search, while a helicopter and a passing Hercules searched from the air. The search was resumed on Monday morning, but the body has yet to be recovered.
