'BENT' DIVER PROVIDES BEST LESSON
Divers from Edinburgh University attending a Forth Coastguard 'Diving Safety and Advice' seminar, unexpectedly witnessed a rescue procedure first hand after a diver with DCI symptoms had to be airlifted from a RIB.
The Coastguard received an emergency call after a 32-year-old man from St Andrews experienced back and leg pains. A lifeboat was launched, and the rescue helicopter from Lossiemouth was scrambled. The casualty was taken by lifeboat from the dive site, close to the Isle of May,
to Anstruther harbour, where he was met by paramedics. He was then airlifted to Aberdeen Royal infirmary for treatment.
