POLICE DIVERS RESCUE SOGGY MOGGY
Two divers from the Grampian Police Underwater Search Unit were involved in a dramatic pet rescue after a grey and white cat was reported stranded on a disused, water-filled gasometer in Aberdeen.
The alarm was raised by a member of the public, who contacted the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The SSPCA turned to the Grampian police divers for assistance. Sergeant Alan Keith climbed through razor wire and swam across to rescue the distressedand marooned moggy, which was being responded by biting him through his diving glove. Despite the injury, he managed to transport the animal back to safety. The cat was handed over to Inspector John Carle of the SSPCA who pronounced it 'soggy, but uninjured'.
The lucky cat has been taken to Mrs Murray's Cat and Dog home in Seaton, presumably with its remaining eight lives still intact.
