DOROTHEA DEATH - DIVERS ASKED TO STAY AWAY
BSAC diver Paul Amison, 32, is the latest diver to die at Dorothea quarry. His death on Sat 23 Feb occurred in the same week that BSAC formally asked divers to stay away.
Diving at Dorothea had been discussed at a meeting of the National Assembly of Wales on 1 Feb 2002. Divers were requested not to visit the site without first obtaining written permission from the owner, Glyn Small. BSAC have issued advice to its membership to refrain from using Dorothea for diving. Divers who use the quarry are trespassing.
Details of how Mr Amison met his death have yet to be released by the police. Mr Amison's body was discovered half-submerged at the surface of the lake by two local villagers. He had been in a group of five divers, on what is understood to have been a privately organised dive.
