ELBA FESTIVAL
Elba festival heads for the water
The popular Elba festival of underwater film and video is on the move.
This year's event - The Third International Festival of the Underwater Image - will be based in the coastal town of Porto Azzurro instead of inland at Capoliveri.
"We will have access to the piazza in front of the harbour," says co-organiser Sandro Zelari. "This will enable us to involve local dive centres, which will be able to offer excursions above and below water to festival visitors."
As previously, entries are invited from underwater photographers and film makers in a range of categories covering prints and videos. Topping the list of prizes are two week-long diving holidays at the Walindi Plantation Resort, Papua New Guinea.
Other activities planned for the festival, which takes place from 17-24 September, will include exhibition dives, A/V and film presentations, and a new contest - Miss Photosub Italia.
The closing date for entries to arrive at the festival address in Elba is Thursday, August 31. Details: Direzione Festival, Cinema Mola loc. Mola, 1 - 57031 Capoliveri, Elba, Italy (tel/fax +39-0565-935311; e-mail direzione@videosub.com; website www.videosub.com).
