NEW WRECKS - COURTESY OF THE NAVY
Two Royal Navy frigates built in the 1980s and rumoured to be worth (pound sign)400 million, are to be sunk for target practice.
HMS Boxer and HMS Brave are to be stripped of all useful equipment, fuel and ammunition before being blown up as part of Operation Hulkex.
A spokesman for the MoD confirmed the plans, but was unable to comment on where and when the ships would be put to rest. Reports indicate it is likely to be within the next twelve months.
Divernet has already made a request that the ships are disposed of close to shore and in a diveable depth."Unfortunately that isn't a matter we take into consideration." commented our MoD spokesperson.
Another missed PR opportunity...
