ABANDONED
Divers left high and dry
Two British divers on an instructor course were left behind on a reef at Ras Mohammed in northern Egypt after a mix-up on the local day boat that had ferried them and others out to the site. Paul Croshaw and Kate Danchin had to wait for about an hour in the shallows, standing to wave at passing boats before being spotted and picked up. Andy Telford of Regal Diving, which organised the couple's trip, told Diver: "We understand that divers were counted back aboard but that Paul and Kate were missed due to a misunderstanding between two dive guides who were counting in different groups of divers. Clearly this should not have happened, and measures have been taken to ensure it does not happen again."
