SOMETHING SEEMS TO BE WRONG WITH OUR BOATS TODAY...
12 Royal Navy and Royal Marine divers were rescued by an RAF helicopter and RNLI lifeboat after their two RIBs became swamped, following a dive at Lundy Island on Sunday, 9 December.
The Navy divers were forced to dial 999 on a mobile phone after their boat engines and radios were flooded and rendered unusable.
Five divers were winched onto a rescue helicopter, another five were taken aboard an RNLI lifeboat, and a further two were towed into port by the lifeboat.
The sea conditions at the time were described as moderate by the Swansea coastguard. The RAF helicopter crew were too busy laughing to provide DIVERNET with a comment.
