BRITISH WOMAN DIES ON WRECK OF RAINBOW WARRIOR
A 23-year-old woman was pulled unconscious from the water after a 25m dive on the wreck of the Rainbow Warrior which now lies in Matauri Bay, NZ.
She was diving with Paihia dive centre. Attempts to revive her on the deck of the company's dive boat appeared successful,
but she stopped breathing when taken ashore. She is reported to have suffered a burst lung injury. Her name and address have yet to be released.
The Greenpeace vessel Rainbow Warrior sank in 1985 after being mined by the French secret service. It was refloated and towed to a diveable depth in a nearby bay and is dived by about twenty divers daily.
