Durham hosts Divewise conference
Divewise, the British Sub-Aqua Club's ninth north-east regional conference, takes place in Durham on 13 March. And it's open to all divers - 18% of last year's contingent were from the SAA, ScotSAC or PADI.
Louise Trewavas, Divewise speaker |
Recognised as the BSAC's best-attended regional conference, last yearDivewise attracted 250 divers from England and southern Scotland.
“We even had some divers from a club in Cumbria,” event organiser David Taylor told Divernet. “This time the whole club’s coming. The aim is always to provide a day of entertainment and education.”
Presenters include rebreather diver, Diver contributor, Dive Girl publisher, BSAC Chair candidate and platinum-blonde bombshell Louise Trewavas, and BSAC technical diving adviser Jack Ingle.
Two local branches will talk about their club trips - one local, one to New Zealand - and a raft of raffle prizes have been donated for the event, including an Otter drysuit (free draw for all ticket-holders), an AP Valves BC and clothing from SevenTenths, DNA Divewear and Fourth Element.
Divewise runs from 10am to 5pm at Durham University's Scarborough Lecture Theatre on Stockton Road in the town centre. Lunch is available in Nearby pubs and cafes.
Tickets cost £6.50 - get them on the door or call David Taylor, 01207 237022 (home), david.taylor@bsac.com
