Second death over James Eagan Layne wreck
A man has died while diving on the wreck of the James Eagan Layne, in Whitsand Bay off Plymouth. The death is the second connected with the wreck in the space of two weeks.
According to BBC News, the man was Mark Jackson, 41, from Southwell in Nottinghamshire. He was reported as being in a party of four diving the wreck on Thursday, 2 June.
The diver is reported to have been recovered at the surface and transferred to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
On 21 May, a man was lost after re-entering the water with his buddy after a dive on the same wreck, in order to recover an SMB reel.
