Chance to become a female freediver
A Bristol-based trainer is looking for a female freediver who has the potential to become an effective competitor in the sport. Training and a chance to progress to British team trials are being offered.
For its Mermaid Challenge the trainer, SaltFree, is offering free training and, if certain standards are reached, the opportunity to compete for a place in the British women's freediving team. International competitions include European and world events.
Disciplines involved include Static Apnea, a pool-based breath hold test; and Constant Weight freediving, where competitors descend and ascend by fin power only, carrying whatever weight they choose throughout the dive.
You could be a diver, snorkeller or swimmer. You need to be more than 18 years old and have a British passport. You need to apply for the Mermaid Challenge by 15 August.
SaltFree is run by Samantha Kirby, a former British freediving team captain and a qualified judge for events run by AIDA, the Association for the International Development of Apnea.
