BSAC announces first photo winner
Last year the British Sub-Aqua Club took the decision to enter the fray of international underwater photo contests. At its annual DOC event it announced the first winner of its Travel Club Annual Photographic Competition.
Pedro Vieyra took this fine shot of a silvertip shark - and, for his efforts, will now enjoy a diving holiday aboard Undersea Explorer in the Coral Sea worth some US$2500. Throughout 2004 the BSAC chose a short-listed shot each month and, at the end of the year, the winner was selected by a panel including award-winning photographers Linda Dunk and Tony Baskeyfield.
Lined up for the 2005 competition, which you can enter whether or not you are a member of the BSAC, is a Peter Hughes Diving one-week holiday aboard Wind Dancer in Tobago. There's also a newly created newcomers category, with separate prize, to encourage budding underwater photographers.
