Photographer wins grant to go sub-aqua
A British freelance photographer has won a £3900 Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust award in order to train in diving and underwater photography.

Annette Price, 42, who runs a photography business in London, has specialised in water environments for some time. Subjects published have included the River Thames' Lots Road Power Station and the Falkirk Boat Lift Wheel in Scotland.
However, after completing an introductory BSAC Ocean Diver course, Annette became set on developing her diving and underwater photographic skills. Her QEST award will pay for a four-week, HSE-approved commercial diving course with the Underwater Centre at Fort William in Scotland.
The qualification will allow Annette to work legally as an underwater photographer. She will also spend time training with established British underwater photographers Linda Pitkin and Martin Edge.
"Taking the camera under water will increase the range of subjects I can cover and is a natural extension to working from boats," said Annette. "It will provide access to subjects and situations not accessible to many other photographers."
QEST, the charitable arm of the Royal Warrant Holders Association, was launched in 1990, the association's 150th anniversary and The Queen Mother's 90th birthday year. It has awarded some £865,000 in skills development awards to 144 crafts people, aged 17 to 50.
