holiday '99

a world of fun contents
Diver regularly receives letters from readers wanting to know where they can take their non-diving family on holiday - somewhere that will keep everyone happy.
Holiday planning has to provide for a wide range of budgets and diving tastes, as well as taking into account non-diving activities for friends, family and ourselves. Diver's annual Holiday Special has to cover a lot of ground but, let's face it, few places satisfy all tastes.
Seven days at St Abbs or Dingle is a very different diving prospect to three weeks in the Solomon Islands - but perhaps you and yours prefer a cheery apres-dive pint to an evening spent bat-swatting.
Some of our suggestions, like Eastern Malaysia, are so comparatively cheap due to the Asian economic crisis that it would be criminal not to at least consider them. Other destinations, such as Norway, are notoriously costly but do offer a different type of diving experience for those who are keen to dive under the midnight sun.
The Maldives are an increasingly popular step beyond the Red Sea, and we've got an unusual slant on Red Sea diving - with camels. Where's your sense of adventure?
Finally, the Cayman Islands offer everything you need for a family holiday - if you're the Royal Family, says Andy Blackford!
