The DIVER Awards '09 VOTE NOW!
|
WIN A £1000 PAIR OF SEA-DOO DPVS!
The Sea-Doo range of Sea Scooters can claim to be the lightest and most efficient Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) in the world. And one fortunate DIVER reader who takes part in the DIVER Awards voting can claim a pair of them - well, your buddy will need to have one, to keep up with you!
The Sea-Doo Sea Scooter VS Supercharged model is designed to combine power with manoeuvrability.
It has adjustable buoyancy and variable speed control, delivering two levels of thrust, and can run at speeds of up to 3mph down to a depth of 30m, though it has been tested to 35m.
The VS's power should outlast your air if you're on a single open-circuit tank, because the battery lasts for up to 90 minutes and can be recharged overnight - the charger is included.
Don't forget that when you use an underwater scooter, your air should last longer anyway, because you work less hard, so you can stay down for longer.
Additional battery-packs are also available in case you need your scooter for longer periods in a day.
The VS Supercharged, which has been rated No 1 DPV overall by Diving Science and Technology (DSAT), is also readily portable. It is compact in shape, and weighs just 8.4kg, including battery. Waterproof circuitry protects against accidental flooding.
The two Sea-Doo Sea Scooters offered by UK-distributor Alpha Distribution as prizes in the DIVER Awards Draw retail at £1000.
To win this great prize, register your vote using the coupon below. You have until the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve to qualify to win a pair of Sea-Doos.

The annual DIVER awards have become a mighty big deal within the UK diving trade. There are plenty of examples of excellence within this industry, but there are no other awards that recognise that excellence.
And while it's all very well complaining when goods or services disappoint, we at DIVER feel that the best way to encourage high quality is to reward it.
Bronze DIVER Awards statuettes now adorn many a diving establishment, and while they represent a real achievement to the winners, they also indicate to customers that they are dealing with businesses that are appreciated by other divers.
So please participate in this year's vote, because the bigger the ballot, the more meaningful it is. You haven't disappointed us yet.
There are nine categories to consider. Fill in your nominations now using the entry form .
Not only will you have had your say, but if yours is the name selected at random in our January Draw, you stand to win a pair of Sea-Doo Sea Scooters, worth £1000! (see right).
Below are the nine categories:
-
Scubapro has won this award no fewer than five times in the past seven years, so we want to know if it still has the magic touch with dive gear as far as you're concerned - or do you have your own favourite?
-
What do you reckon was the best piece of diving equipment to hit the market in 2009? Will it be another computer, perhaps seeing Suunto back to that top spot yet again, or do you have other ideas? The ball's in your court.
-
Can anything shake Scuba Travel's dominance of this sector of the dive trade? If you enjoyed an especially good diving holiday in 2009, and feel that the people who arranged it deserve a valuable pat on the back, vote for them now.
-
It was an all-Sharm love-fest at last year's Awards ceremony, with Red Sea Diving College once again collecting the honours for Egypt. It could happen again, of course, but remember, it's a great big diving world out there! Which centre gave you memorable diving in 2009?
-
Tornado Marine has been a frequent winner in this category (last year it came through with Whirlwind), but who will scoop the prize for 2009? With standards rising all the time in terms of comfort, facilities and safety, we know you wouldn't vote for just any old liveaboard!
-
Is Egypt a shoe-in to win, year after year? It usually looks that way, but the decision is down to you, and once again, the world is your oyster.
-
The 2008 winner was Scuba & Outdoor Pursuits, and we speculated that its wide range of gear brands may have been part of the attraction. Which shop consistently serves you best?
-
This category is designed to ensure that not all the Awards go to the big established names. Pick a company, product or service that was launched in 2009 and left a positive impression on you.
-
We're talking about diving books and DVDs only here (no magazines, please). If it came out in 2009 and you liked it, get your vote behind it!
IMPORTANT We CANNOT accept: more than one vote per person... emailed votes other than through www.divernet.com, and then only one per email address... votes from employees or commercial associates for their own or associated organisations. Only entries in which all the spaces have been completed (sensibly!) will be eligible for the Prize Draw.
Any decisions on admissibility are at the discretion of DIVER.
