UK weekend weather

OUTLOOK

With blustery weather prevailing over much of the UK, divers will need to plan carefully to find decent coastal conditions. On Friday, frequent and heavy showers will be driven in on the gusty westerly wind. Strong winds and gales should clear away to the east during Saturday, but a brief settled period will be followed by more strong winds on Sunday.

Via Met Office 2 below, local area forecasts divide the UK into 16 coastal segments. Forecasts are for 24 hours, with outlooks for a further 24 hours. They are posted at 0500 and 1700, detailing wind, sea state, visibility and general weather. A three-day national outlook for inshore waters appears at the end of the section.

BBC Weather Centre repeats Met Office forecasts - but with mapping to define areas listed. It also provides synoptic charts covering five days. At the home page select Coast and Sea, where these and other services can be chosen.
